Georgiana,
You’ve been here for a whole month now. You’ve certainly fit a lot in to your short time here so far. I’d love to say we’ve had a wonderful first month with you but realistic it’s been pretty scary and horrible.
We bought you home and enjoyed your first 9 days together. A midwife we hadn’t met before came to do your heel prick test (you were an angel!) and we found out you’d lost a bit of weight but nothing to worry about. On the 8th December we celebrated your big sister’s 2nd birthday. You had your first meal out for it and we headed to Frankie’s favourite – Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Unsurprisingly you slept through the whole thing.
The next day you had your 10 day review at the hospital but once we were there the midwives noticed your breathing was very laboured. We were sent over to urgent care and you were quickly put on oxygen. They transferred you over to a high dependency bed on the paediatrics ward and you spent 10 days there being looked after by some wonderful nurses and the rapid response team. You had a very scary day half way through your stay, and we found out you not only had bronchiolitis but pneumonia as well and they quickly put you on antibiotics. After that you were a little star and started to improve and exactly a week before Christmas you were able to come home again.
Your sister missed you so much while you were gone and asked for you every day. I’ll remind you both of that when you’re fighting over make-up or boys in a decades time! You should know that Francesca adores you! She runs to get nappies for you and demands ‘milk for Georgie’ when you cry! You are ever so lucky.
You also had your first Christmas at only 3 and a half weeks old – we took you and Frankie to see Father Christmas on Christmas Eve and were told you were his youngest visitor! Christmas was stereotypically very busy! We had your Nanna, Morfar, Auntie Sofie and Auntie Hope here for dinner and you were spoilt with presents and cuddles. You spent the next week being introduced to family and friends, and getting lots of love!
You have dropped down to 5lb 10oz and look tiny! You’re in premature baby clothes and they absolutely swamp you, you look so small that your full head of hair almost looks like a wig sometimes! I’m sure you’ll get lovely and chunky over the next month though.
I’m keeping everything crossed that your second month is happier and healthier than your first…

You have been through thick and thin in such a short time. Take a deep breath and try and make the most of the calm. You are doing so well.
What a first month for all you guys but so happy for you that everyone is pulling through. Here is hoping you have a bit less stress from now on. Xxxx
Gosh what a roller coaster first month, here’s hoping things are distinctly less eventful from this point onwards! X
