Last Autumn after over a year of looking we found our dream home and moved in on December 1st 2011. It was hectic, Francesca was in and out of hospital with a horrible virus, me and Dean had symptoms of flu, Frankie’s birthday fell exactly a week after we moved in and Christmas was just round the corner. Bleurgh… it wasn’t exactly fun.
BUT… we had our beautiful house so all that other crap honestly melted away, we just wanted to get stuff done! Now we’ve been here for coming up to 10 months I don’t think you’d reconise the place from last year. We’ve done some big projects, some tiny tweaks and have had to put some much wanted renovation on the back burner – all in all we’ve had a super productive time in this house.
Obviously a delivery expected in mid-December (of the small person variety) is going to completely halt any work we’re doing so it feels like a race against time at the moment. Dean has been working so hard at getting the house ready and it’s really starting to feel like a home now.
Here’s a quick recap of what we bought, these photos were taken on a very dark winters evening before we moved in so excuse the yellowy tone to them. We didn’t buy a lemon house.

I am so envious of all the original features in the house! Ours have all been ripped out (from past guarantees it looks like the house had a bad case of wet rot in the 90s and had everything had to be completely ripped out). It is my aim to get a lovely fireplace like that in our living room one day.
We spent a long time looking for a house that had fireplaces and workable floorboards… although (and I hate to say it) 6 fireplaces make an awful lot of dust and draft :(
I wouldn’t switch it for the world though!
oooh exciting! Can’t wait to see what you’ve done!
I’m excited to show it off! ;)
What a lovely sized house. We need more space as we are in a 2 up 2 down but need more money first x
We had to put up with a living in a house that was 1 room downstairs and 2 very titchy bedrooms… it was worth it in the end though :) x
